I think w/ the Rams game it comes down to two things for me, head coach and QB. The Rams have a clear advantage here so I have to take the Rams and the points.

As a Texans fan, I'm obviously nervous about a Jacksonville bounce back. But the spread makes them a good team to tease down to about the ML. I'm going to pair them with KC as they've yet to win by more than a score, so teasing down again gets me to around the ML. So that gives me HOU +0.5/KC -1.0

The one thing Lovie Smith's "playing not to lose" strategy did for us was drop us down to #2. Sucked at the time, great in hindsight. But just as important was using some of those Cleveland picks to get Will Anderson.

Great job Steve! Just curious, why not mention the overtime angle against the Rams? This year 2 games in the nfl went to OT, next week teams are 1-3, only winner was Seattle week after the NE overtime win (and NE got killed on the next game thursday short week on the road) facing Miami with no Tua. In fact, the Rams were one of the teams, OT in week one and got demolished week after by the Cardinals.
