This is quite interesting. Especially when I saw the highest rated in my country, Indonesia.

I do think the fact that the vast majority of RYM users only speaking English, plus maybe Spanish influences the ratings heavily.

There’s a lot more instrumentals for non-English/Spanish speaking countries.

In the US states you have a variety of well-known and unknown artists.

I think for Indonesia, if Indonesians were to use RYM, older popular artists with a lot of cultural and historical significance like Iwan Fals or God Bless could take the spot, ERK or Dewa 19 for pop-rock with a lot of substance. Could be a deep-cut in the Psychedelic rock era as well, or something more recent with the rise of Eastern Indonesian hip-hop. Could go with dark and avant-garde with Senyawa or Kekal. Could be more traditional cultural music as well, but with more of a personal flair.

The one in the video felt very impersonal and more like I was looking at the Indonesia exhibit in the history museum.

Clube da Esquina is a masterpiece and that's undeniable, Milton Nascimento is a national treasure for us, unfortunately he retired of his music career some weeks ago. But his music will be forever in our time, soul and culture. Also Minas and Travessia are both equally good albums, and y'all should give it a chance.
