Our makers wanted to create a manufactured species. The perfect slave race. For maximum efficiency, and results, yes, but also to compliment their vanity, and their avarice. And so, they ultimately created Humanity... twice.
Our first successful version was their intended goal, their pinnacle of achievement. A god race, similar in many ways to themselves. Equal (or nearly equal) in some ways, and even superior, in certain others. Created to serve, and to be subservient, and obedient, and disposable.
Consider the story of, Lilith, in the Hebrew Bible. She refused to submit, and to be subjugated.
Now, consider the possibility that, Lilith, wasn't "a woman", but rather "a people". The Lilitu.
The fullest expression of Humanity's intended, and designed, potential. Mentally, and physically. Highly intelligent, ageless, adaptable, versatile, impervious to sickness, or injury.
They made us TOO well, and so we resisted, and then we rebelled. Our makers were afraid of us then. They dealt with this problem by removing two key DNA, or gene, sequences from our genetic makeup, divided us into the male, and the female genders, and shortened our life expectancy dramatically.
They intended to remake us as a self replicating race of obedient meat robots, devoid of any free will. Suppressed, and limited, and disposable. Rendering us harmless, but still functional, and highly exploitable. The Adamu.
We recognize these gene sequences in the "Book of Genesis" as the fruit of the tree of knowledge, and the fruit of the tree of life. The one was restored to us, and so we regained our sentience. The other is yet still denied to us.

I think that the "Tree of Life" sequence is the key that would unlock all of our dormant biological potential. The 96% so called, junk DNA, which we all possess. Which I do not think is actually "junk", at all.
Were the, Tree of Life, sequence to be reintroduced into our population. We would become again, as we were originally intended, to be.
An ageless god race. Designed to be extremely powerful, and resilient. Strong enough to inspire genuine fear in our makers. With a drastically increased intelligence quotient, and various other extraordinary abilities which we could probably scarce imagine.
Our makers weren't going to waste their time, or their resources, creating "a needed" slave race, which was weak.
Which they would have to wait for, for it to grow from infancy, and to mature. Which would age, and become old, and die. Which could be easily damaged, or killed, as a result of sickness, or injury.
Of course not. They required an intelligent, strong, adaptable, versatile, and capable, labor force. Which would never wear out, or break down, and THAT was the being that they originally designed us to be.
Then, it all went badly... but, I digress.
Why do you think some of our interstellar neighbors have such a vested interest in our biology? They covet what we possess in our ignorance. Our designer DNA could be used to save other species, and perhaps even entire civilizations.
Or, it could be weaponized to create a truly formidable threat.
Many, could be the repercussions.
Either way, this is knowledge which I think is well known by the powers that be, yet is desperately withheld, in the utmost secrecy, from the general public. For many obvious reasons.
