Model 3 Standard Range Is Here: What You Need To Know

Earlier this year in the Q4 2018 earnings call, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said that we'd likely see the long-awaited 'mass-market' $35,000 Tesla Model 3 enter production some time in the summer, completing the Tesla Model 3 lineup after nearly two years of production.

Today, after teasing something important was on the way, Tesla announced it was taking orders for two Model 3 standard range variants: the Tesla Model 3 Standard Range ($35,000) and the Tesla Model 3 Standard Range Plus ($37,000)

Here's what you need to know about both models -- and when you can expect them if you want to buy one.

That $37, 000 version is a heck of an upgrade from the $35, 000. I honestly don't know why anyone would buy the $35k. Also odd how small a price increase it is. WAY better interior options, plus some extra range.

Tesla is brilliant. At this price point, will anyone still want to buy a Bolt? I say no.
My own prediction: Tesla will receive 100, 000 orders within the next 2 weeks, many from people who are still holding onto those early reservations from 3 years ago.

I prefer manual seats. With my wife being 60" and me being 75" we are constantly moving seats from all the way up to all the way back. With a manual seat this takes about a second. Electric seats take forever to travel the full distance.

I think is a fair value for the price of $35k US, as most well equipped EV's are in the $50k and up price range. Tesla was smart as you mentioned that they put the decision in the hands of the customer regarding the purchase of the Standard Model 3 or the Model 3 Plus. It gives the customer a few options to choose from. Well done Telsa! Keep up the good works Nicki.

Tesla dropped the $35, 000 Model 3 on a Thursday to get the shorts scrambling on Friday. Look for the stock to go up about 8%. Also this is tax season, more money to put down on a new Standard M3
