Rescue of Dog Stuck in Mangrove Swamp

Kayakers heard a dog howling in distress one morning at Pulau Ketam. The same group of people had seen the same dog the previous day, but had initially thought she was foraging for food, or just waddling around the swamp.

When they heard her cries that morning, they knew she must be in trouble. True enough, as they approached, they saw that she was trapped. Her hind leg was wedged in between mangrove roots, and she could not get out.

Her kind rescuers approached her on a kayak, and managed to free her from the mangrove roots! She was quickly evacuated and sent to mainland Singapore for medical attention.

At the vet, she was found to have a dislocation of one of her hips, and severe degeneration in the other. This meant that she would need more than 1 surgery, so that she can be free of pain and be able to walk properly again.

Brave Tami started walking again within days after her 1st surgery! She will be needing a 2nd surgery, so that she can be as good as new.

We are less than a month away from the end of our medical campaign for the quarter.
