As both cars have Torsen center diff, my guess is that Bosch, providing the software for EDL, is forced to use older software versions with Passat. And in other words, as both cars are mechanically similar, it can only be software. The key take-away is that both are more than capable in real life situations, but with software you can reach finer nuance (as needed to differentiate between brands).

I have a 1.9 tdi pd with asr button, and recently bought a 2.4v6 quattro b5. I do not have any asr/esp button. Is it possible to turn traction off for some winter drifting without disconnection abs sensors or something?

in the SAME torsen T2 (same gearbox codes for same engines) AND same electric brake assist unit. Differences came from tyres, driver and wearing of each car. For same engine is actually same car (audi is @100kg lighter due to smaller dimensions AND few suspension elements which are madd from aluminium instead of steel as passat had.

Once again 4x4 tests on rollers has us hanging from our diffs!! Two cars, same platform, same center diff, same manufacturer. But in the game of 4x4, in the universe of Quattro, how could Passat beat Audi A4? Is it even possible? Does not Quattro rule us all?! Does the software solve it all or is it all dependant with the yellow markup tape in the wheels?!! Which wheels spins fastest? Which car will release itself from those nasty rollers!

I'm curious - in the video is Passat B5.5 actually. I own Passat b5 (1998) syncro(also torsen), which does not have esp I think. Does it act differently from passat b5.5 then? On ice track it behaves as audi b5 quattro, I'd say.

There is Torsen center diff in both systems, should not the passat have done aproximately the same as the A4 with both rear wheels on the rollers? (since EDL is out of the equation front to rear)
Pherhaps it has a difrent type of torsen? (TBR etc..)
