Too late i am an IE with 3 contracts under my pillow. And he said we make ~80k$ a year then how did I get 125k$ a year?

Industrial engineers make more than most. They act as consultants to the executives and usually find themselves in very high management or executive roles. The CEO of apple tim cook studied industrial engineering and the CEO of Walmart. Business processes are huge and cost billions. It is necessary to have industrial engineers. Work in transportation, logistics, supply chains, hospitals, the entire service industry, and even government. There is an abundance of high paying jobs.

Don't even know what this is a video, you just took stats from online... not a video from experience. do not listen to this person.

I love how the first thing this dude says is that industrial engineers “are not making that much” compared to other engineering professions. Yeah no, the median annual wage is around 88-90k, and if you work long enough, you have a high chance of making it to a six figure salary. industrial engineering jobs are also growing at a 14 percent rate from 2020-2030 - higher than average - with a projected 15-20k jobs offered a year. So unlike quite a few engineering professions, you actually have some form of job guaranteed - ESPECIALLY since it’s such a versatile degree as well. A minute and fifteen seconds in and I’ve rolled my eyes more than once - goodbye

This is one, if not the only, video I've seen that discredits Industrial Engineering. So many more promote it.

This video isn’t based on accurate resources. Industrial engineering is a demanding major and interferes with so many fields.

This kid has little experience he is far too young to make such an appraisal. Some of what he says is partially correct, but do not let this very poor presentation put you off. I have been in this sector since 1984 as a contractor and currently earn 1100usd a day net, this is my highest paying contract. Typically its been between 650 to 900 depending on location and conditions. All of my contracts are overseas and travel rotation, accomodation is included. I specialize in Instrumentation and Controls, have worked in OnG, Waste Water Recovery, Pharma and Nuclear. Soon I will retire very comfortably and regreting not a thing about my career choice. This I believe is one area AI will take quite a while to replace the human factor.

My head is going to crack. I plan to do my masters from USA. I did my bachelor’s degree in computer engineering. I do not see my self doing core programming jobs and looking to explore others field. I have done research on biomedical engineering, industrial engineering and environmental engineering. My god everyone is saying do not do this engineering in their respective field. I have shifted my thought on subject to pursue on master degree in every two or three months. I think every one is right in their own way. They are not wrong at all. We could go through same situation. I don’t know i’m confused as hell. Looks like there is no other world except programming. If live or die but do programming.

Most relatable video I've seen on this topic! While many others sugarcoat things, you keep it real. It's crucial to stay grounded because once you graduate, you realize how tough the job market can be. That perspective helps you make decisions to move forward. Even if some people don't want to hear it, you're not gaslighting—you're telling the truth.

60 percent of industrial engineers work public? Industrial engineers rarely work for government compared to other engineering majors, where are you pulling these numbers from? Did you Google Civil Engineering by accident?

Two all others looking. It’s been 2 years and according to labor statistics. Industrial engineers now average $99, 000, while all other engineers average $102, 000. Industrial engineers have twice as much job outlook at the average and the pay gap is closing well

Man keep your BS to yourself, demotivating IEs. I highly doubt he has any actual knowledge or experience on field, designing plants or streamlining processes as an IE. I am an industrial engineer myself and trust me, the work is very interesting. Does an organisation absolutely need us? No. But can they afford to lose us and all their process optimisations to another competitive organisation? Absolutely not.
We squeeze every last penny for the organisations, and in the most efficient way.
