The olympic lifts train athletes to effectively activate more muscle fibers more rapidly than through any other modality of training. The explosiveness that results from this training is of vital necessity to every sport. Practicing the snatch teaches one to apply force to muscle groups in proper sequence, i.e., from the center of the body to its extremities (core to extremity). Learning this vital technical lesson benefits all athletes who need to impart force to another person or object as is commonly required in nearly all sports.

I think it´s important to note that the hip not just "touches" the barbell, but is doing a thrusting movement, literally pushing the barbell away. In order to not get a too horizontal thrust from that, you must at the same time extend/lift your ankles, as to thrust the barbell upward and forward at the same time. The shoulder shrug then pulls it up further, and a bit towards the body again.
Take note that the lifter leans slightly backward overall while extending, to counteract the slightly horizontal movement of the barbell. If you don´t do this, you tip over forwardly, or become instable, potentially having to correct with your shoulder which can lead to issues or shoulder pain.

when doing this my arm broke, is that part of the exersize becuase it sure cost me alot

I've always wondered why it's called a "Snatch". If it was half the lift (just up to the chest) i could understand it. But when you add the overhead press at the end, i feel like it should be called something else. Like, "the full lift" or something...
