Gray ashes. Pervasive odor. Shattered glass.

Here, where a huge blaze ripped through the night before... stands a dark, gray building... heavy smoke having charred the glass facade... reduced to the skeleton.

South Korean President Moon Jae-in arrived at the scene of the deadliest blaze in nearly a decade on Friday... an eight-story building in the nation's central city of Jecheon.

( )
The disaster zone... still crowded with first responders, forensic officers and the police scrambling to get to the bottom of the cause of Thursday's fire.

( )
But, the human face of the tragedy... the president came face-to-face as he toured nearby hospitals and met with the relatives of the 29 people killed in the flames.

Some enraged... some still in shock... most in absolute pain poured out their accounts of the horrific disaster holding the government accountable for yet another accident that they say highlight the nation's safety transgressions.

The South Korean leader made stops at three other funeral homes and lent an ear to the mourners where he vowed government-wide measures for a thorough investigation and for ways to best cope with the aftermath.
