Greek men are slick. My mother visited Greece on a Fam trip as a travel agent. The men were NOT shy about approaching her. She wasn’t interested but boy were they forward and persistent. 😂

Wow what a way to find out. Them older generations did some interesting stuff. Good luck learning Greek, try duolingo for a start. I found listening to Greek music and watching Greek shows helped a lot.

A positive side is that you were able to meet and shake your grandfather's hand multiple times, and he was a businessman whom I presume could cook great Greek food.🤗💝🦋

There is a saying with the Italians and Greeks. “Two faces one race..”Also parts of lower Italy were part of Greece at one time. There were some areas that still spoke Greek. Some DNA companies were not able to distinguish between Greek and Italian DNA 🧬 in the beginning. It would say them both with a / in the middle. But now that there are so many more samples, they are able to distinguish better people from different areas. Similar with the Scotts and Irish. But your mother’s story is also very plausible and entertaining ❤

My grandma was hoeing too! This was in the 40s-50s. Gram and gramps slept in separate twin beds. Gram had two pregnancies that were not from my grand father. One, she left house for the day, delivered the baby in the hospital and left him there to be adopted, came home that evening like nothing happened. My mom’s youngest brother was raised with everyone else like he was gramps’ but on her literal death bed, she confessed.

I remember I dated a lab tech that worked at a DNA testing place. She told me that between 30%-40% of men are unknowingly raising kids that aren't theirs.

So both my parents are Guatemalan. I'm first generation American. I didn't know much about our family history except for some random stories. My father looks indigenous, my mom looks white. Took the Family Tree DNA test, Ancestry and My Heritage.

We knew the rumors that my paternal grandfather was adopted by his stepfather. Well... my dad's Y DNA turned out to have thousands of matches in Scotland, Ireland, England, Australia, Whales..

My mom's DNA and my DNA test.... Ashkenazi Jewish with Italian and Portugal.

My paternal grandmother... 100% Guatemalan Maya.

What a mix. Lol

So I celebrate Christmas, Hanukkha and I can say "kiss me I'm Irish" in St Patrick's Day.
I also learned how to read and write Hebrew, trying to learn Ki'che Mayan and picking up a bit of Italian.
