The switchable water pump included in the kit, ensures a faster engine heating. As a result, the passenger compartment heats up more quickly and fuel consumption can be reduced, depending on the operating conditions relevant to the engine. The integrated fail-safe function ensures engine cooling, even if the control circuit is defective.
The video shows how the pump works: As long as the engine has not reached operating temperature, the impeller is covered and the coolant is not pumped. From a temperature of 60°C, the impeller is released and the coolant is fully pumped.
The kit contains all components for easy installation, including the solenoid valve.

So, in effect you now make it impossible to have cabin heat until the engine is warmed to 60C.
Canada thanks you for further suffering in cold.
Also. What controls the shutter that blocks the impeller. Don't you dare say solenoid. Some computer or controller of some sort MUST be detecting the temperature and controlling this.
Lastly. Since now we are stuck freezing to death until the engine hits 60C. When the shutter finally opens to allow the pump to flow coolant, wouldn't the sudden shock of now pulling in -40C water from the heater core and other cooling hoses not in line with the radiator(since radiator is blocked by thermostat) result in temperature shock and potential engine life shortening?

Isn’t the basic thermostat on many car making the exact same thing, except disengaging the impeller? What is the expected reliability of the clutch of the pump? Besides, this seems to be for ICE vehicle, innovation could be in BEV.
