How to fix a broken USB-C port on Macbook Air M1

I can't believe this works lmao. I accidentally figured this out while trying to see whether can the laptop charge itself.

Worked for me on MacBook Air 2020 M1! Rear port wasn't working, plugged it into itself, got a modal window asking to trust this computer or something, accepted, and after removing the cable I can now plug in to both. Mild genius!

The entire thing sounds stupid, but it worked for me. None of my ports were working. I tried restarting multiple times, but it didn't worked. I tried this method as I was texting apple support and it somehow worked. No idea how you figured this out, but thanks a lot.

Wow, worked for me too. One of my ports would work for charging but would not work with my mouse or ssd. When I connected the two ports to each other I got a pop-up window asking whether or not to trust the USB Macbook Air device. I clicked allow and now the port works normally again. wtf

no way this literally just worked for me hahaha I spilled water on mine as well and both ports stopped working. I bought a replacement usb c because I was going to fix it myself. I should have watched this video first lol

Really interesting. I spilled some water on my port as well, and I thought it was dead forever. I tried your tried, and surprisingly, this double plug in does get the "charging" reaction out of the second port - so it's not completely dead! However, I am still unable to use it after that step, it's not charging when plugged into electricity.
