WHO AM I:
I am Jim J Davidson and I purchased my first investment property, a student HMO in 1973.

My financial gain from property allowed me to start a retail business in 1983 with very little borrowing. I developed this business into four convenience stores and a petrol station before selling up in 1990. By then I was debt free and moved my young family to live in Florida until returning to live in the UK in 2000.

My current business, Fyneside Developments Ltd, which builds quality residential homes was first established in 2003. It is fair to say he is no stranger to business and property and hope you find this channel of benefit to you.

How do you install ground floor toilet foul pipes to an outside wall passing outwards when using trench fill? The rest bend would have to pass through the concrete and without the house set out you wouldn't know where to install it before the pour?

Just stumbled across your vid really informative
I’m doing a 2.25 meter foundations at moment because next door neighbour
Has a plum tree within the zone
And have to dig it in sequence so it don’t collapse
And have to put heave boards for compression
Also must have a suspended floor
It’s taking forever as you’ve explained working in tight spaces trying to dig down to 2.25 meters not fun at all
If architect had done his job properly and I’d have known about tree at beginning
And never started the work
Oh well no turning back now
Thank for vid

Thanks for the info! I would like to add during/after application of trench fill foundations settlements (immediate and consolidation) must be checked in order to ensure a stable foundation if they are built on loose soils.

Annoyingly I have a garage which was built on a raft but the brickwork starts on the raft flush with the surrounding area, consequently water permeates through the bedding mix mortar into the garage. Is there a way to remedy this and maintain a a degree of water tightness internally. I thought about tanking out inside a repairing a floor but that would raise the level relative to the driveway., so I thought about breaking up the floor by stihl swaying around the internal edge and a build said you run the risk of an internal, collapse. Ideas welcome.

I went to view some land for the first time today. The friendly man who would be my neighbour happens to be an engineer, and he was discussing the possibility of using raft or pile foundations for the rather wet and uneven ground. So it's very interesting to see it all clearly explained here.
But before I can decide on the foundations, I need to find out whether my unconventional design plans would be acceptable with the planning department!

What about microbore foundations? Are they also an option?

Great video thanks, I’m currently studying foundations types for standard Uk semi detached houses on firm clay with a high water table, I think trench would be best as it would probably be the most cost effective and falls under building regulations without the need for a structural engineer, any ideas on this? Many thanks!

You said raft foundations are a good solution for former mining areas. Is this still the case when there is poor soil quality?

Thanks for the information. What about in Africa? The houses I have seen have about a one or two-foot foundation. I want to build my own house there. Subscribed.
