From On the Media, The Divided Dial is a five-part podcast miniseries that examines how the conservative side of the political spectrum came to dominate talk radio — and how Salem Media Group is using the airwaves to launch a right wing media empire.

In the final episode reporter Katie Thornton speaks to Salem Vice President Phil Boyce; and we ask experts if it's legal to broadcast election denial lies?

Highly politicized, partisan companies like Salem Media Group have a hold on the airwaves — and they don’t plan to give it up. Phil Boyce, Senior Vice President Spoken Word of Salem, speaks candidly to Katie about the personalities he handpicked — Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, Mike Gallagher, Sebastian Gorka, Eric Metaxas, Charlie Kirk, Brandon Tatum — to spread Salem’s message and about the company’s plans to expand into the media world off the airwaves.

And in this final episode of the series we ask the perennial question: peddling election denialism seems to be a solid business model — but is it legal?

The Divided Dial is hosted by journalist and Fulbright Fellow Katie Thornton.

On the Media podcast is your guide to examining how the media sausage is made. Host Brooke Gladstone examines threats to free speech and government transparency, casts a skeptical eye on the media coverage of the week’s biggest stories, and unravels hidden political narratives in everything we read, watch and hear.

I'm a republican who voted in both 2016 and 2020, but for the libertarian candidates. Tthat being said regarding falsehoods over the airwaves, I certainly do not want an Orwellian ministry of truth . The solution to bad speech is more speech.
