See how they liked it using their Human Racing GT Chassis, with the Thrustmaster T500 RS wheel with a MOMO wheel adapted to work with it. ALso using the TH8RS and Clubsport Pedals to operate the truck.

We hope you enjoy the show !

Yeah, I used to drive it on a wheel with manual and kept it down to the high RPMs but after watching some trucking vids and using the automatic I can see that it's best to shift in the mid RPMs.

Many truck drivers use the clutch only for the first gear. After that, they shift gears listening to the revs of the engine. It takes a little time to get it down, but once you learn it, it beats using the clutch all to pieces. I learned it in about half an hour on back country roads. It goes for down shifting, too.

you can turn off the speed limiter in the options

Here is an interesting fact: EU rules say that a truck can only have a total length of 24 to 25, 25meters, 82feet. And that’s why short nose trucks are preferred, since the cargo space can be expanded.

The reason why there are only flat trucks in Europe is that the total max length must not exceed ~18 meters. It's just for saving space...

By the way, an American Truck Simulator is in development at SCS right now ;)

You can turn off the speed limiter in the settings menu to allow the truck to reach 90, (wouldn't recommend it; flipped on a slight bend in the road) as for the feeling in the wheel, it's surprisingly easy to turn the wheel in newer freightliner trucks (I work as a diesel mechanic for freightliner) however if you get back into some older peterbilts it's a pain to turn the wheel, there's a reason why those truckers had to be big guys.

3 years and still the best Truck Simulator out there.

25000 kms and its still fun
Also there is a fairly active mod community that can change many aspects of the game to make it even more realistic, or even adding American trucks etc.
And multiplayer is currently in development.

Hey, wondering if I could help you out a little with the options. I heard you say that the braking is a little touchy, there is an option when you go to (options) then (gameplay) and you will find an option for braking intensity, move the slider to the left a little if you want it less intense or to the right if you want it more intense. Also for the speed limiter, that is also an option, which can also be found in the gameplay options. What you could also do for fun, is also go to gameplay and turn off the automatic engine and electricity start, which will let you (like a real vehicle) either have the key turn half way, so everything electrical works, or press 'E' again so that the engine works. (just a fun setting) Hope this help you guys, and anyone else who's new to the game and wants those settings changed.

Nice review, thanks. I just wanted to comment about the angle you use on the triple screens. I long ago discovered that it's better to have them all in front (horizontal) position (no "surround"). Games aren't designed to offer you side views. Side monitors just show a continuation of the FOV, with increased deformation, so having them in horizontal position doesn't change angles of the images on the side screens. In surround the dashboard suddenly changes the angle, deforming it. Try it ;)

I drive semi with 48 Tonnes on it for a load. The steering feel is road condition feedback strong, If you are on an uneven road ( I work in Northern Manitoba Canada) you feel the crowns, dips, pot holes, and ruts through the wheel.Your hands are constantly turning the wheel to "lean" on the weight of the play toward where you wanna go. And in the bush on curvy icy roads, there is a very strong sense of steering loss (push) in the wheel. It feels like LFS when you loose steer traction "hands drop"

it's an EU regulated speed limiter att 90KM/H
it's for safty on the roads for other drivers

And now looking at this game how much it has grown is incredible. I just got the game but ive wanted it forever. Using a Fanatec Podium Racing Wheel F1, i5 4590 quad core CPU, OEM hp radeon rx 480 GPU, single monitor on ultra graphics. I bought the pc just for ATS/ETS2 and man am i in heaven! 💯💯

Great review guys, you show great detail of the game and have a real enthusiasm fo it. I have been playing it for weeks. There are mods you can download (easily found on youtube with links etc) to do various things like add more maping, trucks, engines, gear boxes or even change the amount fines are and how much you get for jobs. The max number of drivers you can hire to work for you is capped at 115 and I have reached this, I have spent €30mil on top spec Scanias with 1010bhp engines alone!

SCS is working on 'American Truck Simulator' ... it's not an expansion but a new game. And thank god they are working on an AI-overhaul with upcomming Patch 1.8!

I have Euro Truck 1 and its really good fun. The backing up at the end of the run is really hard if your tight for time.
