It’s mostly used to open cans. Sometimes to defend the cans.

I ended up here because I was trying to use this infernal device. Here's how it went for me:

1. Open can with a normal decadent capitalist can opener.
2. Realize the can had 3 points where it didn't open (symmetrically, because Russia)
3. Look at device.
4. Stab can and realize the device is dull.
5. Watch video.
6. Cry in despair.
7. Open vodka.

There was a can opener just like that one in my moms kitchen drawer when I was a boy in the 1970s.

We had this in the US South. I remember my grandmother having one just like that.

We had those as a kid, better than any mechanical one I've used! Now I just use a sturdy knife, because our can opener got stolen
