As a dentist myself let me say NO ONE can go back to natural after veneers!
Stop doing this until it’s actually required!
No idea why everyone wants to have same duplicate teeth as everyone else!

Sorry as a dental hygienist I can confirm that there is no such thing as going back to your normal teeth now. You will have to replace them every couple of years, and they may last a decade if they were done very well. But you no longer have your natural teeth. That is unfortunate that they led you to believe this.

I’m a Dental Assistant, don’t you ever get veneers. Unless there is no other option. I am telling you. Please.

If phosphoric etch and cement was used then your natural teeth are not "completely intact" beneath 😬

It's not true. They texturize the tooth still with little dot grooves for the cement to stick. When you take the veneers off, the natural tooth still has those grooves. And they don't look "normal". So no. You can't go back to the way they were before.

“They don’t have to shave your teeth down at all.”
“Abby had to have her teeth shaved down.”
😂

As a dental student this is just so so sad to see. If your teeth are healthy you should never touch them or as little as possible. A similar result could have been obtained with Invisalign or braces with a teeth bleaching treatment after and maybe some composite resin if you really don’t like the shape of them (at least it’s less invasive)

As soon as you start to drill the tooth a bit, you make a big step closer to your teeth dying ! We call it the “death spiral of rerestauration”. Even if we have some good material nowadays NOTHING compares to what nature has to offer !

It’s too late to go back now but at least don’t promote something literally UNHEALTHY to your audience (even tho most of us would not even be able afford it lol)

Dental student here! Are teeth are almost definitely not going to be 100% intact after getting veneers.

This is kinda sad to hear. A dentist flat out lied to you. Veneers used to be more invasive where you had to get your teeth filed down significantly, yes. But once you have a veneer tooth placed on- that IS your tooth. They can 100% be removed, but you will always have to have new veneers bonded on from now on. There is no “going back” to your natural teeth.

As a dental assistant, i can promise, they will pop off at some point, likely 5 to 10 years, you can't bite into an apple or anything like that, avoid caramel or taffy, absolutely do not bite your nails, and i will say, they probably would look weird if they came off, even with minimal prep she mentioned. I know plenty of people are thrilled with this type of thing, keep in mind at some point they will come off at a super inconvenient time.

As a dental assistant…if you want those super thin veneers to last don’t bite into apples or corn on the cob anymore. And most importantly DO NOT USE YOUR TEETH AS TOOLS-don’t bite your finger nails or open stuff/rip stuff open with your teeth!

"She can take off the veneers today" all the dental people in the comments; "no she cannot, her real teeth are fudged"

I have a rare genetic disorder that affects my teeth; I was born with only eight adult teeth in place, all the rest of the teeth I had were baby teeth. I have spent the last 17 years of my life prepping for implants (I am 19). I am currently healing from a bone graft in my jaw (the original bone in my jaw was not thick enough to support the implant posts, so bone from my hip was added to my jaw) and having my implant posts put in. I have a few months of healing before the implants officially go in and veneers are added over my original adult teeth.

When I tell you that people who have normal, healthy, teeth and unique smiles personal to them and they CHOOSE to get veneers my mind is blown.

Dude she literally had perfect teeth. As someone who has all kinds of actual real issues with their teeth and overall appearance of their teeth due to said issues, this does really irritate me.

False! They can and will come off. No, you won’t have your “normal” teeth back.

Except you’ve already destroyed the enamel. You can go back to your natural teeth.. for now. Until they start to decay, you need root canals and fillings, and will eventually need replacements. Veneers are never NOT going to damage the teeth permanently if there’s shaving or reshaping. You’ve destroyed the enamel.

Her natural teeth were stunning! Each to their own and if she is happy that’s all that matters.

Porcelain is ceramic, but not all ceramic is porcelain, if that helps at all!

As a dentist we only recommend veneers for people who have damaged teeth either severe discoloration that can’t be bleached or decay or repairing spacing but her teeth were perfectly fine and healthy they didn’t need anything done to them. This is just so invasive to the teeth and just wrong. There is no such thing as no prep veneers we remove a very small layer of the teeth about 0.7 mm but it’s the outer protective layer of enamel so teeth become weak and susceptible to decay and teeth sensitivity so yeah she just ruined a perfectly healthy teeth snd a perfect smile and pretty much got scammed. In 5 years time she will suffer the side effects

I'm just curious if you've never had orthodontist work done, why not try braces or Invisalign first?
