Setting a higher resolution can improve the accuracy of time-out intervals in wait functions. However, it can also reduce overall system performance, because the thread scheduler switches tasks more often. In my experience this timer reseloution does not help that much ingame, it can cause stutters and lag spikes so be wary if you decide to use it. Setting a timer resolution close to 1 ms is the best for overall system latency and smoothness in most cases.
