Residents in Florida are still struggling with the aftermath of Hurricane Milton with runoff from the heavy rainfall making its way into rivers and flooding inland communities. More than one million customers across the state are still without power in addition to gas shortages across the region. NBC’s Guad Venegas reports for Sunday TODAY.

Historically when they first discovered florida it was described by White settlers who viewed wetlands as wastelands and avoided the area. However, they eventually realized the potential of South Florida if they could drain the swamps. During battles for land in Florida there were reports of man eating crocodiles and alligators.
