Christmas Eve 1968 Da nang Vietnam, " we heard the boys of the artillery fire station sing silent night from about a kilometre away. I have never heard it sung with such passion or feeling everything was hushed, then at midnight they lit up the entire skies with a show of flair's and fireworks such as few human beings have ever seen . The sadness and horror of that abused land was for one unforgettable moment made human again and we all truly wished for a silent night and goodwill on earth to Men who are God's friends.

Hardly anyone ever mentions the supporting cast in these pieces. The featured ladies are fabulous, as always, but the choir and instruments were absolutely on point. Great job and Merry Christmas to all!!

Years ago I took my father in law on a surprise date. I got all dolled up, picked him up and took him to his favorite Mexican restaurant. The show was on 5th Ave in Seattle and as we approached the city the snow began to fall and that's when the magic began. The love of The Celtic Women was something that we had shared for years, he was enamored by every single one of them and referred to them as angels.We bought each other every cd and video of theirs throughout the years and waited for their PBS special every year. Anyway, as we walked through the snow and he saw their names on the billboard that grumpy cantankerous man gasped, he squeezed my hand so tight. He was elated! Ol' grumpy had a beaming smile the entire show. When they sang Somewhere Over the Rainbow I sneaked a glance over at him and he was weeping. Weeping! 😭 I never mentioned to him that I saw his tears, it would have embarrassed him terribly. It was the most meaningful date I've ever been on. He passed away a few years ago and I miss that grumpy recluse dearly. It was a great night.
If you ever get a chance to see them LIVE, you must. You positively must.

Her memorial service is tomorrow, and since I cannot be there, I'd like to dedicate this song to her.
