Not agree with you. Half-Life fans are like GTA fans. They expect extraordinary things from the next game, some of them the developers do, some they don't, but they also bring in different things that the players couldn't think of, and the majority leave happy. We've seen many examples of this, and the most recent example is Half-Life Alyx. Unless there's a big disaster like Duke Nukem Forever (which is highly unlikely), I think everyone should be comfortable.

I stopped using decky loader the last time it broke an update. It didn't seem worth getting again if it was possible that it would create the same issues or worse again.

I had to deal with the annoying boot loop except my deck screen wouldn't turn on after the logo. I plugged it in and eventually decky recognized the boot loop bs and I had to reinstall decky loader.

It is terrifying to experience that, imagine you update something on your deck and you have no idea if you just broke your $550 system, and are considering a factory reset

The first thing I want to see from Valve is a "Steam Box", to connect to tv, and play games at (a lot) higher settings than currently possible on Steam Deck

I wonder if Valve is aware that it will likely not live up to the impossible hype, and simply are willing to risk it because they feel ready, and know their bottom line will likely remain stable even if it flops, now that their eggs are planted in solid baskets.

Decky Loader is awesome but that bootloop issue is scary. Having to reinstall Decky after almost every Steam update, is annoying. Hence the life of indefinite updates.

My only expectation for HL3 is that the game is as good as HL1, HL2 & Alyx i hope that they nail the story, the soundtrack and the gameplay in the same way they did with their previous titles and Alyx showed us that Valve still knows how to make a good singleplayer game

Why would Nintendo not release Wind Waker for the Switch? They must not like money. It would easily go for new game price.

At this point, I’d just be happy with a firm “No, we will never make Half-Life 3 (or whatever the post-Alyx equivalent would be)” or “Yes, we are making it. We have every intention of releasing it.”

I agree with your point of view that we shouldn’t let wild speculation become expectation but I think we’re forgetting when game studios advertise one thing and deliver another i.e. Cyberpunk 2077, No Man’s Sky, Starfield.

With the recent "console like" enhancements to SteamOS like family sharing and screen recording, I could definitely imagine a PC only HL3 - launched alongside a Steam Console...
