Yes the spirit of the pioneers does shine through in Utah today! Especially in your district.
The complete lack of government protections and the abuse by groups and individuals forced our pioneers to flee from the boundaries of the United States. These people were forced to leave lives and homes to cross into a blank spot on the map considered to a desolate wasteland. Just when these people thought they had at last found a place to live free as they wished and without the boot of government on their neck the, US claimed the land and vilified the people.
These same simple people of faith were used by the Democratic Party at the time as a whipping boy to cover their own sins of their support of slavery. The US sent an army to put down these evil people. Newspapers of the time splashed front pages with salacious stories about those Mormons way out there made up out of whole cloth while deflecting the truth about the horrors of slavery. These stories prompted an outcry from the public and a demand that something be done. Which worked to damp down the anger over slavery.
General Johnson and his troops marched out there to put a stop to these subhuman people. The same spirit that made our pioneers strong and free harassed Johnson’s army every step of the way and create an environment that made the government’s job difficult. His army came into Salt Lake City only to find houses filled with straw and men with torches ready to burn it down to deny the government power. By the way Mittens, how did it work out in the end for slavery democratic and General Johnson’s army?
The people in this state embrace the memory of how government overreach can destroy freedom and crush rights with a boot on the neck. We also have a long memory about the promises made and the promises kept by the people we elect.

Good thing you’re not one of those democratic and have the back of the modern pioneers in Utah! 🤣
