Have you ever looked for happiness and satisfaction in different places or different people, only to end up feeling empty or disappointed? Solomon had. And he wrote about it in Ecclesiastes. His latter years were marked by a hunt for happiness, satisfaction, purpose, and meaning. He looked everywhere except up. He eventually realized that life without God is a continual “wild goose chase” without ever getting the goose. Pastor Gary teaches from chapter 2 about the common ways we mimic Solomon’s life with the Pleasure Hunt, the Measure Hunt, and the Treasure Hunt.

Pastor Hamrick, thank you so much for this video and analysis of Ecclesiastes 2! Your reflection was very insightful and helped me to better grasp the greater point of the scripture. I am writing an essay about this chapter for a college class and I feel well prepared thanks to you. It kept me thinking about how we can relate the scripture to our own lives. Thanks again!!

Luv for laughter; giggling is also a gift. TY Pastor Gary!!! The "salve of sorrow" may be the laughing at tomorrow; "tomorrow" never comes. EVERY time it could, we call it 'today.' 👀

Aside from just praying for Jesus to come into our hearts, we need to talk about repentance and living an upright life from that point on. And allow the Lord to be Lord of your life and not just part of your life. I understand why churches do this prayer at the end but I feel like we don't speak enough about when Jesus spoke of repentance and following Him daily. :) Awesome sermon up until the very end when Pastor Gary prayed. Really amazing job on Ecclesiastes 2!

My husband and I laughed hysterically when a lady that was walking her dog let her dog lift his leg and pee all over our recycle container at the roadside. We shared a precious moment together.

Fulfillment, purpose, meaning and happiness surely must come from outside of ourselves - the LORD, and the LORD alone, not any other outside source.
However, since the Holy Spirit indwells in us, such source shall at some point internalize, so we can constantly have the fulfillment, purpose, meaning and happiness welled from within, these qualities become part of us, so we may transpire, give off such qualities to draw people to God.

The woman @the well was widowed 4 times (Kinsman Redeemer - see the Levitical Law), in Jewish/Samaritan tradition she would have been considered a Prophetess otherwise the men of the village would have shunned her and she would definitely been banned from going anywhere near a Holy well!
