I had the pleasure of meeting Mrs. Ali one day and she had that same energy as the Champ. I’ll def check this out.

I had a similar experience with the play A Man For All Seasons. It was originally a play, but the movie version wasn’t engaging orcompelling in spite of how well everyone acted.

Thanks for the reviews. Looks like 'Miami' is shot like quality character driven TV drama while Human Voice has the cinematic/theatrical visuals but supporting what to me is a far less engaging story. Sadly looks like most films we see in the future will be at home, doubly sad in these cases as they were originally written to be performed live in a theatre.

I can understand how some people will feel a disconnect when a play is adapted to film, these look really good though!

Many movies based on plays have a flawed visual presentation. Is that also the case with ONE NIGHT IN MIAMI... (the real story of a meeting between Malcolm X, Sam Cooke, Jim Brown and Cassius Clay/Muhammad Ali)? Yes and no. Even though the dialogues and the performances are good enough to make the plot compelling, Regina King's directing and Tariq Anwar's editing are what prevent each conversation from feeling stale. Unfortunately, the lighting is unappealing and the color palette is ugly. No, I don't just mean inside the motel room where most of the story takes place in. Except for the few daytime scenes, every location has those issues.

7/10
