I always use the vlade you're using to achieve nice straight cuts, such a versatile thing a large blade lie that.

Please note that the ceiling has already been pasted using a very strong adhesive. Prior to this, all new plaster had been thoroughly sealed with PVA. Any small gaps between paper will be filled after first coat of emulsion and before final coat is applied.
