I’m just realizing the hot air blowing out the side of the laptop is an excellent feature because it keeps my mouse hand from turning into a block of ice with icicle fingers.

The fact that you provided a spreadsheet and covered these laptops so well is an inspiration- absolutely subbed.

4:40 - the Zephyrus M16 and G16 do make sense as more lightweight and less "gamery" alternatives to models like the Strix Scar. A lot of people want a powerful laptop that isn't too over the top design wise with lots of RGB lighting.

Easily one of the best review videos I've seen. Exceptional breadth of information, quickly delivered. And also quite considerable depth, touching many different use cases. Massive thumbs up, and subscribed.

Thank you, this review came at the right time. Just placed an order a Legion Slim 7. I'm OK with the AMD+4060 combo and I'd prefer a cooler machine. Also saved some £££ over the Legion Slim 7i I was convinced I needed.

Really like the reviews (watched the full 7i one as well) to the point useful info in an entertaining but not stupid way.

All of Josh's complaints about cooling and design issues are valid, but they'll never be solved because the people who make the decisions about how these laptops will be built and arranged don't speak anything but Chinese. They'll never, ever, EVER see this video or any video like it. Upvote this so Josh and team see it.

The purpose of Zephyrus M16 is for people that want to compromise a bit on the performance for a slimmer laptop (compared to the Strix Scar). I think this could be a solid contender for the best gaming laptop for most people, if you consider the RTX4070 variant which goes for a bit less than $2k but it's often on sale. If the budget allows it, the RTX 4080 is also a good choice for this model. And in my opinion you get more for your money than you get on the 7i. The Lenovo software is disgusting, the design is so much nicer ( the way that the display just starts at the bottom of the chasis, but not only ). In terms of performance, I think they're the same with rtx 4070. There's much to say, but yeah, I think you completely dismissed the model for no reason, other than you just had a 4090 model of it and didn't consider any other model.

After a few gaming notebooks, i bought a Slim 7 with AMD CPU and can absolutely agree with your recommendation on every point. And in combination with the Lenovo Legion Toolkit app, the experience is even better because you can really customise everything to your needs.

The problem with the 7i is that the 4080 so significantly outperforms the 4070 this gen that despite the higher cost, it is actually a practical upgrade, even for those who want the best 'bang for the buck.' With that said, this was an outstanding comparison, and the new 'talent' seemed quite comfortable in front of the camera in this their first Just Josh video. Not sure how long they've been with you, but they seem to be outstanding hires :)

I don’t like that the Legion Slim 7 tops out with 4070 graphics. I wish a 4080 option was available, even in a low-power variant just so you could have something with more than an 8 GB frame buffer. Lenovo offers a low-watt 4080 in the ThinkPad P1, which I believe is even slimmer than the Legion so it’s not a matter of chassis or cooling.

Shouldn’t be here because I just got my (awesome) Legion Slim 7 AMD a few weeks ago but I was curious to see how it sized up against the competition. I’m glad it’s getting the recognition it deserves. One thing that usually never gets mentioned is gaming in quiet mode. It’s really solid performance with barely audible noise! I personally feel good fps with a nearly silent laptop is more impressive than high fps from a loud laptop.

Josh, keep up the great work, by far the best laptop reviewer out there. Because unlike the others, you use the laptop for more than just gaming or video editing. You actually have a good methodology and ranking system for work laptops.

Recent years have proven that companies must provide us with products that can compete in all aspects: study, work, AND gaming. That means battery life, portability, even aesthetics matters. You seem to be the only Youtuber who realized that people want an "all-in-one" and you help decide what you should compromise.

Josh - great video (!!!) - but I have to share that the Blade 16 (4k/minLED) has major display blooming and color accuracy issues - depending on which panel you receive. They do not include the capability to switch between single zone and multi zone (like Asus). There are a few threads on reddit and razors support pages. Also, the Alienware screen is dark (300 nits) - which is crazy. Just FYI...

This video helped me so much. Still torn between X16, Slim 7, and Scar though.

Great video, guys! The only remark I have is that in the 4060/4070 range for laptops that perform well, have a great screen, good keyboard and are relatively quiet you are missing this generation's Asus ROG Flow X16. Those are, while more expensive, the main competitors for the Lenovo Legion Slim 7 series.

Great insight all-around, I know this had to take some time. And to deliver all that info in less than 15 minutes is crazy! In defense of the Zephyrus M16, I’ll say it’s a very attractive option for those who want a nice 16” laptop but don’t want to deal with how big/heavy/gamery the Scar 16 is. It has a more efficient chip for better battery life than the Scar as well.

I'm really liking the Legion Slim 5 14 as a software engineering student who games. It's a nice size: 14, 5" 16:10 OLED display with a 2.8K resolution which makes everything look very crisp and it has 140W PD over USB-C so I bought the one from Rocoren for pretty cheap and I use that same charger for my phone etc. My actual charger can stay at home for when I want to game since it's annoying to keep plugging it out and in, in my setup since I manage my cables pretty neat.
I get around 7 hours of battery life with normal school use in battery saving mode, quiet mode and 80% brightness: coding, browsing, running VM's (without stressing it too much of course). Most my "lab" sessions are 3 hours and I leave with 60-70% battery left.
The only downside imo is that it doesn't have a mini displayport like my previous laptop but only HDMI. So since most ultrawide monitors don't support HDMI 2.1 I'm forced to use up an USB-C port for my monitor. An ethernet port would be nice too.

Doesn’t anyone have suggestions for a touchscreen gaming laptop that isn’t Asus. Casual gamer and content intake. I have consoles so pc gaming is only for traveling
