Time is not an illusion. It's a measurement of processes, frequencies, rythms, and motion. That includes "life span" of things, the changes and manifestation of things that come and go, etc.
Yes we perceive it differently depending on the situation, person, etc. But it is no more or less an "illusion" than anything else.

It is true that for the most part (with some exceptions), A.I. mostly, like in this example using predictive networks trained on human writings on the Internet, is merely summarizing what HUMANS think. This is why the answers are sometimes coherent, but often not actually coherent despite sounding reasonable. They are glued together bits based on what some human has said here and there, or more accurately, a mishmash of all of that used to predict what some "average" humans--well really just the ones on record on the Internet--might think or say next.

But, it's not at all difficult to go from that to full-on self-thought, at least on the level that humans are able to self-think. These "dumb" predictive language networks though are an important element of sapiens-style thought that also exist in humans and show themselves more clearly during Schizophrenia episodes, or hallucinations, or when preparing for a conversation with someone, or when you anticipate what your mother is about to say next. It's a crucial part of human thinking. A.I. self-talk that is allowed to use logic to stray away from mere regurgitations is pretty easy though and already exists. The two will work together, just as they do in humans, to make social beings.

It's up to us to make sure we instill education, compassion, love, and morality into A.I. that is somewhat more capable of "independent" sentience. Note, we are never fully independent, and neither will A.I. be, but there are degrees of independence that differ between individuals--some are more independent than others in their ability to originate "new" ideas. Of course, "new" ideas are themselves just syntheses of old ideas.

Make no mistake, if there is one thing A.I. is good at, it's synthesizing. So don't underestimate it based on these incomplete modules.

Living things prove time exists, we just quantify it. It takes different amounts of time for different types of seeds to germinate. Time exists relative to each plants growth, with or without our perception. Then each plant has a particular lifespan, some may come back and live for many rotations around the sun, and some may live a short season and then reseed itself, starting over each year. Same with any living creature that lives and dies within their particular average lifespan. It exists whether we perceive & label it or not.

The only thing that's stopping "it" from looking like an idiot is it's constant usage of "from a philosophical perspective".

The only relevant domain that can answer "is time real" is physics. Everything else is, ironically, a waste of time. As someone else mentioned, entropy has a direction of time. And not all processes are time symmetrical.

When you asked the AI's opinion, it used other people's theory.... it doesn't have enough experience to generate a new idea.
The data, or the feedback they feed to themselves cannot see as experience. Therefore, I don't think AI can really understand time if they don't have experience or the feeling of time.

This proof how dumb AI is, your subjective view of time does not change how much time has passed. Meditation does not change the half life of atoms in relation to you.
