They Feast On Us 🤢 #bed.

High Humidity: Dust mites thrive in environments with high humidity, typically between 70-80%. They absorb water from the air, making moist conditions ideal for their survival and reproduction.
Indoor Settings: Common household environments like bedrooms, living rooms, and bathrooms often provide the warmth and moisture that dust mites need. Bedding, upholstered furniture, and carpets are particularly favorable habitats.
Nutrient Sources:

Human Skin Cells: Dust mites feed primarily on dead skin cells shed by humans and pets. Since people spend a significant amount of time in their homes, especially in their beds, these areas become rich feeding grounds for mites.
Other Organic Matter: They also consume other organic materials found in dust, such as pollen, fungi, and bacteria.
Allergy Triggers

Allergenic Proteins:

Fecal Matter and Body Fragments: Dust mites produce waste products and shed body fragments that contain potent allergenic proteins. These proteins can become airborne and inhaled, triggering allergic reactions in sensitive individuals.
Enzymes: The enzymes in dust mite feces, such as Der p 1 and Der f 1, break down proteins in human skin cells, aiding digestion. These enzymes are significant allergens

I have been saying this for years and no one believes me !! My mom used to say: leave the bed undone, it needs to breathe!!

This was the motivation I needed to get out of bed this morning. Thanks.

I leave my bed messy all the time. I'll now claim it for health reasons, not because I was feeling lazy.
I was taught to sprinkle baking soda on the mattress, leave it for a while, vacuum the mattress, then flip it. My mom claimed it helped get rid of dust mites. I don't know if that's true but it does keep the mattresses fresher.

Perfect. I never make my bed until im getting back into it. I wash all blankets and sheets weekly, and if i am too sick or unwell to do that, i wash just the pillowcases every weekend.

I’ve really want a plushy of a dust mite so that I can have a giant king dust mite to watch over his kingdom upon my bed.

Okay let me just say....I spent $80 on a BED vacuum with a UV light which activates when you're pressing it into the bed...and I swear on my life, it feels SO much freaking better!! You can seriously feel the difference, like breathing in dusty air vs going outside for a fresh breath. I vacuum once a week, or every 2 weeks if I'm low on time, and have seen acne disappearing, less allergies, and I'm not so itchy at night.

I change my sheets twice a week and wash my comforter once a week. There isnt much going on in my bed that would cause sweating and bodily fluids but I just like the fresh crisp sheets.

I'll go even the extra mile and hang up my blanket in the morning on my clothing rack, so it can air out and the matress as well. Also open some windows to get some fresch air in.

YES! Thank you! I have allergies with this! Everybody always tells people to make the bed to feel productive, But it is a bad advice!

Oops i think i changed my sheets last month but maybe it was the end of April as well… i do hang my sheets on the balcony to Air out whenever it is sunny, so about once a week or twice lol. I also make it in the morning because i thought shaking it out and flipping it to expose the warm side was a good thing but it looks like i‘ll need to change my habits😅

I sweat like crazy before and during sleep.

When i awake my sheets are soaked and the mattress protecter underneath me is actually soaking wet.

I never EVER make my bed (made that mistake) as it traps the sweat, moisture and eventual smell and your sheets are left damp and greasy.

Yes i change my sheets pretty much daily. I have a constant rotation of sheets, 20 sets i believe

I wash my sheets once or twice per week but make my bed every morning. I sleep with a different nighty on every night and I think that helps with keeping my side of the bed clean.
