The trouble with Colombia is getting your money out of the country once you sell a property, especially if you’re a non resident. The banking system in Colombia is 30 years behind the developed world. Don’t even get me started about the costs of everyday banking here, spending half the day sitting in the bank to see someone to do the most basic things !!!

I live in Colombia as a foreigner, for full time living I dont like it, poor banking, taxes and also getting money out of the country is a nightmare, also investing in south America is terrible due to high mortgage rates, unless you pay cash and want to be there less then 6 months of the year its fine but full time living I would pass on Latin America

Colombia has one of the worst personal income tax rates in Latin America and on top of that they have a wealth tax. And the benefit of permanent residence for buying real estate has been removed about a year ago :(

"pied a terre" ... "pied de terre" is a mashup between "pied d'argile", meaning weakness and pied a terre, house domain, property . french being pedantic about language ;)

Yes, it’s unfortunate. You need to update the benefit for purchasing real estate in Colombia 🇨🇴 it is no longer valid as over a year ago very nice country. My only option would be to rent there now and take a retirement visa but the benefits and to put together a trifecta program presidency with buying real estate. It’s no longer valid as far as purchasing real estate.
