Carnival 2019

On February 8th, 2019, the RIS Swiss Section – Deutschsprachige Schule Bangkok celebrated carnival. Students from Nursery to Grade 12, parents, teachers and other members of staff dressed up in colorful carnival costumes and celebrated together the beginning of the festive carnival season with different activities. After a competition for the best costumes exciting games waited for the students in the sports hall.

In Switzerland, Germany and Austria, the terms Fasnacht, Karneval, Fasching or the “Fifth Season” are used to describe the customs related to celebration of the fasting period before Eastern. The festivities differ per region, but they all include costumes, a good atmosphere, donuts and a polonaise.
