Southampton fan here. All credit Wednesday. What a game, what an atmosphere. I thought your goal was fantastic, and I really don't have any complaints about us defending that, there was simply nothing we could do. You gave us a good game, and we were a bit lucky to win in the end. I don't see you being relegated like many have predicted, the Wednesday crowd have too much of an influence over matches to let that happen. We were lucky today. Best of luck for the season ahead.

Signs of things to build on tonight. Delgado had a solid debut, Musaba flashes of flair. Pato looking solid at RB. Positives against a side of real quality and value.

Great performance in the 2nd half and we have got a seriously good player in Musaba exactly the profile we needed and will do great things

Needs time to blend players, need a few more signings. I'm sure Xisco is aware... Defended well for most of the game which is good when we play sides that don't have the same caliber as Southampton. I think we'll be fine honestly

Not as bad as it could have been tonight and clearly there's things to build on. My main concern from looking at the stats on the BBC website was that we only had 20% possession meaning Southampton had 80%. That's not good enough at home no matter who we're playing - and Southampton certainly aren't Newcastle!

Great effort fixed exactly what was wrong in first half and we were just unlucky in the end

I have to say, I thought we were going to get hammered tonight. Basically a premier league side against an ageing league 1 side. For the first 20 minutes I was right however, as the game went on we looked more and more comfortable. Ok, Saints looked a class above but our new signings look positive and manager seems to have a plan so I'm a bit more hopeful for the season. UTO

Wasn’t expecting the win Southampton obvs better side but some signs of excitement with new signings etc I’m game cumon Wednesday

Considering the teams were 2 divisions apart and there manager was appointed in June we done ok. We didn't deserve to win but gave 100%. Need a few more players in with time to settle. 12th play finish.

Simply not good enough tonight, we gave Southampton too much respect, especially in the first half, saw a couple of encouraging signs in the second half, but there is a lot of work to be done if we are to stay in this league.

Wednesday fan here I really did think it was gonna be a draw but a unbelievable goal at the end let Southampton won(not surprised Southampton was in the premier league)

That league 1 team played a little better under him than Moore in just a few weeks, we're gonna be OK. Really can't see what fletcher is gonna bring except a lot of free kicks and a sending off .
