I am in North Carolina and am going to winter over with double deep on a strong colony. they filled one deep with honey, so I reversed the two deeps, putting the brood on top where they will be warmer .

I love your videos! Do you by any chance Have some tips...how to produce honey with only one lower brood box? You take out the side frames?

Hi Bob, thanks again for the great content and the much appreciated Q&A. I’m wondering if you’ve run into any spotted lantern fly honey yet? Smells smoky and tastes like a light molasses. Great for BBQ . I’m worried it won’t be controlled and could end up tainting all honey production?

Any thoughts on using oil of thyme, Thymol feedings in the fall and or spring for Nosema treatment/prevention? I see more mention of its use in Britain.

Also, as that gentleman was suggesting, if we add two separate colonies on top of each other divided by a honey super, would these two act like one colony during the flow for the purpose of collecting honey, even when they still have two separate queens? Kindly clarify this also.

Hey Bob. You spoke that you like to shut down the bees 20-30 days before the main honey flow ends, so that you don't end up with excessive hungry mouths to feed, which will then start eating from the crop. How do you shut down the Bees really? Do you do that by confining the Queen in the bottom box (in case of a 2 story colony), using a queen excluder? if so, in the presence of a fully brooded lower chamber, is she likely to swarm ?...or not due to active honey flow ? or, you use any other ways to shut the queen down also? Kindly comment. Thanks.
