The Walking Dead - Season 10 - Official Intro (Episode 10.01)

Here we are once again at the beginning of a new season of 'The Walking Dead', and with it comes a new opening title sequence!

The era of Angela Kang as showrunner continues and this is reflected in the intro, which features far less of a change as opposed to what we got this time last year, it is very much a continuation of the 'graphic novel/animated/comic' style that Season 9's intro overhaul gave us.

In terms of cast members, and unusally, Christian Serratos (Rosita) has now been moved to where Josh McDermitt (Eugene) previously was - most likely due to Rosita having a more prominent role in the storyline this season, with her now having a child and being the centre of a love quadrangle between herself, Siddiq, Gabriel & Eugene.

Another welcome addition comes in the form of newly promoted series regular Ryan Hurst (Beta). As well as this, Executive Producer Tom Luse has now been replaced by new Executive Producer Joseph Incaprera!

Regarding the visuals, more hanging glass panes have been added to the tree, the panes in question featuring Alexandria's windmill, Shiva to represent the Kingdom, corn for the Hilltop and fish for Oceanside - Thanks go to B. Claimed for pointing that out :)

Other visual changes include a pike to the right hand side of the tree, an extra katana crossed with the existing one after the shot of Rick & Michonne on horseback, the removal of the blood that was on Lucille, a ''Silence the Whispers'' message on the Hilltop gate, and the pikes right before the logo appears - thanks very much to 'Lumps & Evil Wins' and Joel Anthony Lim who noticed these details!

A new, stunning shot has also been added of the now infamous bridge where Rick's apparent sacrifice occurred, and the final, expected change being the logo reverting back to the greenery covered version (after Episode 9.16's intro had a snow covered variation).

The visual tribute to Rick was an excellent touch. Shows that he's still on the show in a sense.

And the other glass panes have fish (Oceanside) and corn (Hilltop) on them.

Rick's sacrifice is the most painful part of this intro.

I love the part at the beginning where the tree under which Negan's throat was slit had crows and darkness and then when the beat drops they replace the crows with leaves. It symbolises growth, healing and that everything gets better eventually no matter how bad it is. Deep, I love it. Definitely my fav intro among all the 10 season intros

Man! I freaking love this new art-style, it gives me the chills every time I watch it, especially when Rick appears and when the walker opens its eye. Beautiful, absoloutley beautiful. Also, the added bass in the theme tune itself, is gloriously dramatic!

Not seeing Andrew Lincoln at the start of the casting really hurt me, he was always in the front but now it’s time for Norman to take his role as the leader.

If you also compare the opening with Season 9A and S10, you can see that they left Andrew Lincoln's portion blank (right before the birds or crow start flying) to still make his presence felt and as a tribute❤

Can we appreciate that everytime when something important for the story happens, the intro changes a little bit to tease/give you some clues what's gonna happen?

There's a pike to the right of the tree (from 0:17)
There are now two katanas crossed together after the Rick and Michonne on horses part; it was just one in season 9 (0:27)
Negan's bat doesn't have blood anymore (0:30)

I always knew the cross on the right at 0:27 was Carl's, because his gun is hanging off it, but I just noticed the other cross is Glenn's! You can see Herschel's pocket watch on it.

I’m glad that Rosita is infront of Eugene now. I think she’s the better character. It’s crazy to think that she is 4th on the credits now when like 3 seasons ago she was like 12th same with Eugene being 5th

I so love additions to it, like Rick blowing the bridge and the addition of the pykes at the end of it. It's great.

I just love this intro, it's really beautiful and artistic, the way it changes from the representation of death as a powerful force (the ravens on the tree) to life as an unstoppable force (the growth on the tree and the vine growing up through the skull. It's really one of the best graphical intros to any show i have ever seen.
