How To Frame A Warehouse

I’m going to show you how we framed this 5000 square foot warehouse in under one minute.

First the guys put down sill seal on the foundation walls.

Next, they measure and transfer the location of each anchor bolt onto the pressure treated sill plate.

They drill holes and drop the plates over top of the anchor bolts.

The plates are fastened down with galvanized nuts and washers.

The studs for this building are 16-foot-long Southern Yellow Pine 2x8s.

Because these walls are so tall and heavy- the guys frame them in place.

Four ring shank nails on both sides of each stud.

Next, they install 2x4 girts 30 inches on center.

These girts along with the purlins on the roof, give them a place to fasten their metal siding.

The plans call for the bottom girt to be a pressure treated 2 x 8.

This helps to tie the studs to the sill plate and will be moisture resistant.

The guys braced up and added the purlins to the first four roof trusses while they were on the ground.

This gave them a stable platform to start with then they set the rest of the trusses one by one.

I was impressed, they had all the trusses set by lunchtime, and by the end of the day they had the metal roof on.

We’re planning to show this entire project, so be sure to like and subscribe. @hausplans

I am an architect from Germany and it’s funny to watch how warehouse in the USA are built… in Germany warehouse are usually made out of steel beams and if it made with wood, it would be huge beams with an huge distance to another and usually with big steel connectors.

That’s crazy… We framed a similar 50’x100’ shop last year that took us (2 man crew) a month to frame. 2 floor systems in it though, along with 3 sets of 8-3/4”x36” single-span glulams spanning the 100’ run bearing on 4 9x9 GLCs each run. (2)2x12 @ 24OC for the roof system with 3/4” plywood. Miles of hardware and lumber. This is a whole different system but it’s amazing to see a shop go up this fast and efficiently. Good job! 👍🏽

It amazes me how fast construction workers build these buildings. Recently, a 10 acre warehouse was built in less than a week. It was all steel and sheet metal. You workers are amazing. I dont know how i could ever handle the heat.

That 'shed' is exactly what I need to park my lawnmower in! 😂

Seriously I'd love to have a garage\shop just like this! Need a lift or 2 maybe on one side. I'd also add the PEX to the concrete so I could put in radiant floor heating eventually & of course a mini split HVAC unit to keep temps down in the summer heat. Maybe someday! 👍🏻👌🏻🛠️🔧🔩🤔⚠️🚧📐🗜️🗜️✏️🦺🚜
