L star is beyond underrated, especially with Loba. Stack up ammo and shields, you can provide cover fire at any time and burn through all of their batteries while not being in any danger at all. Also there is no reloading, aka you win most melee fights with decent enough dodging and small rest periods every few seconds.

I just use it with rampart. You can fire as much as you want and not care about the reload because you change the coil so fast.
