It's been a good handful of years since I've found a video I like so much that I keep coming back to watch it again.

The end of that song sped up so much the staff's ends either disassociated themselves from each other, or she had to toggle the staff mode off and swing the ends as a pair of adjacent blades to keep up. Slowing it down to .25, it seems pretty clear the blades are parallel to each other pointing the same direction for most of the final flourish rather than being inline and oposed to each other as a staff.
