*About Us*
We are Becka and Zach, a couple who, in 2020, dreamt of sailing off into the big blue. Trouble is- we were in a pandemic, had a university degree to finish, on a student budget, only had ever sailed dingies, oh and didn't have a boat. The dream seemed not only unrealistic but pretty insane.

However, we worked hard, finished our degrees, worked as many hours as physically possible, saved with all our might, got experience and in March 2022 bought our very own sailboat, Teulu. Having little sailing experience and being a young couple, we have encountered a tonne of hurdles and made plenty of mistakes! but for every downfall, there has always been a reason to dust ourselves off and carry on.

Remind people of the importance of learning the skills needed to maintain the boat on your own. The majority of your cost savings are from installing, diagnosing, maintaining, and replacing items on your own. Labor cost aren't an option on any budget. Another great video! The cost of owning anything that you use will go up the more it is used, and the older it is. One big difference that most land based people don't take into consideration is, on a boat you are getting dual use out of it, your conveyance and your home, so to even come close to a comparison, you would need both your vehicle and home costs. It really a mote point as there is costs to everything, even eating. Love following your journey as you make your way around this beautiful planet.

By "real cost of sailing around the world" I would expect a break-down of total costs for a year. This would include marinas & moorings, canal tolls, maintenance, diesel & food, camera & broadcast equipment, medical insurance, visas, etc. Has the boat depreciated or appreciated? If it's the former this is also a cost. You've both given up jobs so some people would regard that as a cost. But this may be partially offset by YouTube-related income. Put all this (and anything I've forgotten) into a kind of balance sheet and you might arrive at a ballpark figure for the real cost of sailing around the world.
