I built my own MadVR PC and it did wonders for my EPSON 6050.❤

This is a product that’s always polarizing. Reminds me of a Kaleidescape I think everyone agrees it’s a phenomenal performer….but many have a hard time justifying the price point. I have it as those 2% items, my budget however is in the 98% side. Lol. Thanks for this in depth walkthrough, there’s not really that much content in these out.

You get what you pay for. If you have the money this product is definitely worth it. Many features that are useful for people using a scope screen. Thanks for the review.

Not butt hurt but at $13.5K you would expect to notice an instant difference, Given the fact you needed to not only put it side by side but also point it out. To my eyes, the HDR tone mapping is not worth the asking price at all, the aspect ratio switching is great but again for $13.5k you are better off buying a better projector NZ7 moving to NZ8 etc.
Great work Shane as always :D

Bonus points for quoting “spare change” in this video. 😉👍🏻

I found out about a DIY madvr setup a month ago and built my own for $2k. It’s not as plug and play as the pro/extreme but one setup I am blown away how much its improved my old Sony VW285-es picture. So if you want to experience this buy yourself a decent gpu and capture card.

No one is saying that your theater is trash without this, it is a endgame product. I don’t know why people get so butt hurt about this. Great video Shane!

Great video Shane! The tone mapping on the horse scene was very convincing. In the other scenes it looks like the JVC does a pretty decent job. It would be interesting to see how the JVC looks without any tone mapping compared to the JVC tone mapping & envy.

I can imagine some of those small bugs would be annoying when spending this kind of money but it seems like the Envy is always being improved and updated which keeps things exciting and adds more value in the long run.

I have a Sony XW 6000 Projector. I purchased my Mad VR Envy Extreme and all I can say is wow! It makes a big difference on a Sony 6000 especially with the HDR dynamic Tone mapping. The picture quality with the envy, extreme and without it is. Unbelievable. If you have the budget, it is definitely a must have for projectors. Thanks for the great review Shane. I agree 100% with you. It’s a game changer.

It's a pretty cool product. The cost is the cost, as there's not really anything else out there. I'm not sure how a Lumagen compares but I've noticed a bunch of them on the used market the last bunch of months and I've been wondering if that's due to people swapping it out for the MadVR. I find the annoying part to be that its needed in the first place. I'm curious if its mostly a projector thing or if its similar on a TV. Like, if you get a higher end 4K Sony or LG OLED would a MadVR be beneficial or are they already able to resolve majority of the detail? If it's mostly a projector thing then I guess it's less annoying.

Big fan of the madvr standalone software

Shane could you do a video on LLDV which does player tonemapping for Dolby vision content. I would be interested to hear how you think that compares.

Do you have a Panasonic player on hand so you can compare the highlight and shadow retrieval?

Wait 10 years for LED wall and never have to deal with projector BS. But for now, this is a no-Brainer if you have one!

Thx man! Great video! Been thinking about getting the Pro model just to help with aspect ratio control.

Mr. Shane can you please do a review on the HD Fury Vrroom 8K for Dolby Vision like results on projectors? This is a more budget friendly device that most of us can afford. TIA!!

Good and fair review. FYI, those bluescreens and the freezes in the menu are not normal. I suspect the RAM in this unit might be damaged.

I knew Shane is not very technical but I was still shocked that he was trying to restore highlight details by reducing the brightness control in the JVC menu. Also, he should have left the JVC tone mapping at auto-normal, which should work much better for those 4000 nits snow scenes (this is a major limit of JVC’s DTM of course). Auto-wide just lowered rolling off points at every MaxCLL level comparing to auto-normal to increase APL but at sacrifice of highlight.

This thing reminds of the old processor I used (forgot the name of it) to change aspect ratio before projectors offer lens memory. I've been using 2.35:1 screen for almost 20 years and it's so annoying when I had to manually zoom in and out for different aspect ratios. This thing is way out of my budget, maybe when I upgrade to a JVC projector, I might pick it up.
