Rout Perfect Fitting Dadoes with this Jig

With just two passes along a straight edge guide, the Perfect Fit Dado Jig lets you rout precise dados and grooves at any increment from 1/4'' to 1'' wide. Since it uses a scrap of your actual material for setup, the fit is spot-on, every time. Just rout the first shoulder with the jig in the ''closed'' position, then rout the second shoulder with the jig in the ''open'' position. The result is a tailor-cut dado that fits like no other. Once the jig is set, the stops make it easy to return to the ''open'' position so you can machine as many dados as you like for that thickness. No need to buy undersized plywood bits, or bits for other odd thicknesses—your dados can fit any thickness within the range (19/64'' for example) using standard 1/4'', 3/8'' or 1/2'' straight bits. Not only do you get easy operation and a perfect fit, you also get an integral dust port that lets you hoover up the mess before it ever hits the floor.

This video is excellent jig on the way. I have a Bora locking straight edge. My question is he mentioned you would have to offset the straight edge guide when using a 1/2” bit 3 1/4” away from the dado. I am assuming dado line. Is the offset different when using eith a 1/4” or 3/8” bit? Thanks.

I have the Bora 100" guide. I need to cut 3/4" t-track grooves in my workshop table I'm building. I have a Bosch MRC plunge/fixed base router.

They need to configure one for 1/4" dado's as I use those more often than any other size. Granted, they are easy to cut wit a table saw which is what I currently do.

What's worse, is Rockler recommended the Bosch 1617evsp wich I went out and purchased last night, it doesn't line up with any of the holes. If I had to hazard a guess, what they neglected to inform people is YOU, the consumer must drill holes in the acrylic base so you can install the "Perfect Jig

This is one time that I think Rockler has not made a jig that is simpler to use. A home made jig using 2 boards, straight of course, and a pattern bit in the router. Put one board on one side of the dado and clamp it down. Use a sample of the piece that is to be in the dado, set the width of the other board. Then route. A whole lot easier and probably less expensive than the jig.

My issue is that I just tried it and I can not get the jig to close properly on the 3/4 ply....I have squeezed the piss out of it and the dados are alittle wobbly

The question I have is what can we use for bars?

Why not make the first cut in the open position since we just set it?

I dont understand why you need to make two passes to make a dado? If i want to make a 1/4 wide dado why cant i just do it in one pass with a 1/4 bit?

I received the jig yesterday and found that the acrylic base does not align with my craftsman router

Your instructions are great but that the connections don’t hold great, are a real negative.
