Most Americans don't know the difference between civil and criminal law.

Dr. John: Did you violate your contract?
Caller: So, I didn't break any laws...
Me: Thank goodness this person is no longer a teacher...

Life Lesson: Employment contracts are rarely for the benefit of the employee.

Read the contract yourself and make sure you understand how to get out of it BEFORE you sign it.

One thing I learned about Dave is that he is very particular about contracts.

As a teacher myself, I know that this teacher is liable because most teachers are given paid long vacations and the one thing the school expects from teachers is to show up and hopefully avoid being sick as much as possible during the school year. If a teacher does not want to teach for another year in the same school, he or she should not sign a renewal (if not tenured). This guy must have gotten another job, hopefully not in teaching, so he ditched the school. He has no integrity and should not be a teacher

This guy is teaching our youth. God help us.

That school board should be HAPPY this guy no longer works for them. Parents who's kids were being taught by this guy in that former school should be HAPPIER.

I work as a teacher in N.C. and we are under 1 year contracts however you can resign without penalty if you give a 30 day notice. We have teachers switch schools midyear all the time.

I'm a teacher you can get out of your contract without penalty as long as you do it before a certain day most of the time its the end of June just depends on the district.

"You need legal advice...pile up some cash."

Those two sound mutually exclusive.

Our education system has failed this teacher ironically enough. You violate your contract, you'll be held to the terms of the contract

I think it's a little unfair to assume the lawyer gave bad advice. This guy does not seem very bright. It's entirely possible he either did not follow the lawyer's advice or did not give the lawyer the proper information. Regardless, it's good that he is no longer a teacher.

People nowadays don't want to take responsibility for anything! You break your contract, you pay. Just because you want to do a thing doesn't mean it's okay and you escape any consequences. Ugh!
