Bought the iPhone 14 Pro when it came out and at 90% a year later... my iPhone 12 Pro was at 90% after 2 years...

As much as I like using MagSafe stands, I genuinely believe they degrade the battery faster due to heat despite the safeguards that the spec is supposed to include. My iPhone is always warmer after wireless charging

My previous iPhone 12 experienced a decrease in battery health to 88% in the second year of purchase, and it remained at 88% throughout the following year. As for my iPhone 14 Pro Max, which I purchased in November last year, the battery health is currently at 90%.

I still have my 13 Pro Max for over a year now. Battery health is still at 100%. When the battery drops to let's say around 50%, I'd plug it in until 95% flat. I don't charge it overnight. I don't play games with it and I usually just use it for social media and work stuff. Battery still fresh and strong.

Lithium ion batteries don’t like extreme heat as you’ve already mentioned. I suspect if you used apples bog standard slow charger, this would protect the health due to the battery not heating up nearly as much as when wireless or fast charged. I used to be glued to my phone and would routinely charge twice per day, however i now restrict myself to slow chargers and if I have to charge up during the day I’m unable to use it for a prolonged period. Phone addiction is an issue generally in society it would appear 😅

This was also an issue with the 12 series, but it wasn’t highlighted for whatever reason. A simple google search will reveal the different threads related to it. My 12 Pro Max was down to 80% battery health back in 2021 with 260 charge cycles, a year after I bought it, and I highlighted this to apple 3 times, but they REFUSED that there was anything wrong with it all three times. A week after my warranty expired, it fell to 79% and apple charged me the full amount to get the battery replaced. That battery is now in its second year of use with its battery health at 86%. Absolutely terrible experience, terrible service.

My 13 pro ( purchased in November 21) still has 91% because until the beginning this year I always used the old Apple charger in combination with only charging to 81% overnight. This is possible with my a smart plug, connected to shortcuts, which shuts it of when phone gets over 80%
And in these 7 months now using fast charging I lost I think 5-6%. so It does make a big difference

I work with lithium batteries and I can say from experience the best way to maintain peak battery health is keeping charge under 80%, even avoiding charging over 80% for short periods of time. Because of science, a higher state of charge for most lithium chemistries is very stressful, almost like always staying full at a buffet. My previous 8 plus lasted about 4 years with 89% health with heavy use and exposure to heat. As far as I can remember I only fully charged it less than 20 times in its life. Avoiding high states of charge can really improve battery health and its a good reason why EVs with Li-Ion strongly discourage charging past 80%. If you need that battery life, at a bare minimum enable optimized charging and consistently charge your phone.

2:31 you can’t, if you look at her tweet it says “ that’s what the apple store says” because they have to run a diagnostic and it tells you there

If you want you can go there or call apple support and they can probably let you know after running a test

I think another big deal is to use the right chargers with the right voltage. There are many cheap chargers out there but they don’t supply the correct amount which is an additional burden for the battery which will deteriorate sooner.

Colour grading on this video, exquisite.

Bought a yellow regular iPhone 14 in June, still at 100% health so is this issue just for the Pro models??

I love how this has been happening to me for the last 5-7 years of owning iPhones because I live in the Caribbean where it is hot and the issue is the battery health no matter how much I baby my phone always goes down drastically. Before we had the option to see this in settings I used to notice a difference in my battery and then started learning about how it degrades over time. But now since that feature has been added I’ve looked at for my last few iPhones from my 7 plus all the way to my 13 pro max and it’s always been down to 90% in one year of use and I’ve babied most of my phones then I stopped caring because there’s nothing that can be done about it and it still results in the same thing. ✨ Degradation ✨

I've always felt wireless charging is a red flag due to the amount of heat produced. I only use it when i'm on the move.

I upgraded to a 14 Pro Max and this has been the worst battery health that I've ever had. 5 months in and I'm already down to 96% and I barely used this. Usually, my old iPhones tend to last a year before it even decreases by a single percentage. I don't use MagSafe or any wireless charging either, but I noticed my 14 Pro Max tend to get warm at times.

10:05 On the contrary.. I noticed that when I update the ios the battery automatically goes down faster at a significant rate and the iPhone gets hot most of the times

I barely noticed the actual topic of the video but it is amazing too. It's because the quality of the video is OUTSTANDING. This is just pure awesome quality

I noticed my 14 Pro heating up when charging wirelessly. I have now gone back to wired charging which is faster and also generates less heat. Hopefully this helps preserve battery life.

you can call your mobile service provider and ask for a signal booster that fits on your broad band
