A new New World PTR update dropped and this one comes with some pretty significant changes. The Musket itself and Mortal Empowerment receive multiple buffs. The Freedom Perk mod will be easier to get. Elemental Attunement gets its damage reduced. The Fire Staff and Hatchet both get nerfs.

It's astonishing to me that AGS tried to remove a stagger and the community got it put back in. Fucking insane.

Fire staff getting nerfed before it even goes live. They might as well just delete flare now.

It's a massive nerf to FT. You have to use it for 5 sec now to get 5 stacks of smolder and even then you are not able to maintain the 5 stacks due to the timer.

The perk change is OK since you can apply smolder by other sources and get the speed bonus.

Fireball is nerfed, FT is nerfed and incinerate is nerfed so they are really punishing the build diversity of FS.

i tested the musket before this latest patch and the accuracy penalty seems to be bugged, there's nowhere near the same amount of bloom if you don't take the zoom passive. i think it will go live like this and muskets will just not take that passive

what are all these massive buffs to firestaff you talking about ? considering the fact that majority of players never get to play wars, what ability is acutally a "major buff" on firestaff ? only thing I see is the animation fix on pillar.. what else is this big buff for 90% of the firestaff playerbase ?

I really don't like the change to the heavy projectile speed. Of all the things they could nerf they chose to change something that affects how the weapon feels. I would much rather damage number tweaks than this, I really liked the idea of the Pharah Rocket heavys.

Plus this change hurts the weapon most against the best players who will probobly be able to just walk out of the projectile reactively if it's too slow. Maybe it won't feel as bad as I think but 25% kind of sounds like a lot.

Not sure why the devs tend to lean toward making the game feel slower over tweaking damage numbers. Removing the clawshot animation cancels kind of lands in the same boat. They should just balance assuming players are playing the weapon well and claw shot comboing consistently instead of taking the fun away...

one thing i dont get from ags is why nerf perks and abilities so massively everytime like do more 10 % changes not 40% for example 9:09 perforate

Pretty big Spear nerf. (Im a medium armor spear player)

They completely removed fortify from perforate, added a weaken that is really only useful if a player has Empower (there will be plenty of downtime when someone is not empowered in pvp scenarios)

Skewer already has a great weaken to near max cap, so the added weaken on perforate a lot of times can be wasted.

Putting the perk fortifying perforate on gear / spear is not something you want to do now due to the numbers being so bad you'd rather have elemental aversion

Can you say more about Stable Incinerate changing to Empowering Incinerate and now Incinerate has grit by default. Is Empowering Incinerate going to be a perk to seek out on armor and run Incinerate, or should I be moving to something like flamethrower and meteor shower?

Still don't understand why you think F&F does a heavy amount of damage, It wouldn't do anything more than a light attack's first attack. The actual use was the stagger. Not sure how this isn't being understood.

i still dont understand the part where quality of life improvements make the fire staff overpowered or buffed all of a sudden but okay.
