Fat loss and patience are not usually two terms that go together. Once we start a fat loss phase and see some results we often want things to be quicker. How rapid fat loss works and what are some ways to lose fat faster without having an issue like we commonly see from crash diets.

Is there a way to crash diet properly and keep things moving? Fat loss theory comes from experience, studies and ultimately what has to be considered is the motivation and drive of the individual and what will work for them.

Today's question is regards to an 800 calorie diet and high daily step count to lose 14lbs. The idea that eating less promotes fat loss does have some limiting factors.

I can’t imagine how sick and tired I’d feel in the gym on EIGHT HUNDRED CALORIES! I don’t even know how a person would have the energy to get out of bed 😵‍💫 this video was so helpful and informative beyond the original question! Thank you!!!

Thank you so much for this information, Paul. It’s so interesting that the most effective means to lose body fat without significant muscle loss requires us to find the “sweet spot, ” where intake is slightly below maintenance yet high enough to fuel performance in the gym and life. If intake is too low, it’s as if our physiology works against us. Fascinating!

I cut sugar out of my diet completely (the added kind, not afraid of fruit at all of course), but it was entirely for the benefit of my skin!
I don’t miss sugar at all, and having my skin clear up and STAY clear is all the positive reinforcement I need to stay away from sugar and sweetened foods.

Love it Paul!! An atrocious diet will not give you the body you’re looking for. No skinny/fat athlete in YOUR mirror!! 💪🏼😊 I hope she takes your advice to heart and changes the way she thinks about nutrition and fat loss 💕

I’ve actually had a dr tell me that when I was 180 lbs and 5’ 5.5” that for me to lose weight I would need to be on a 750 calorie diet if not less. I was shocked and I walked away as far away as I could possible. Thank you for the update!

Weight training is the number one key to fat loss for me. I’m down 12 lbs in 3 months and have dropped so much fat off of my body. I had to hire someone to help me though. 150 protein, 140 carbs, 30 fat. Lift 5 days a week and cardio every day ❤️

Can't even express how wise your words are Paul. Every single thing you say is true 1000%.

I love this advice because the fitness industry pushes “abs are made in kitchen” approach and I lost the most weight when I trained hard and ate when I was hungry which varied depending on my activity level but my average calories were 1400 a day in 2 meals I allowed everything in my diet and my nutrition was balanced over the week I did have sugar in my tea. When I restrict sugar I end up not wanting to workout and binge because I feel deprived. Fat loss is mainly a psychological process it’s choosing what’s most important. Love your channel Thankyou !!

I've done a RFL PSMF VLCD before for only a couple weeks, but I pretty much just ate protein sources: 276g egg whites with 1 large whole egg (meal 1), 226g cod/shrimp (meal 2), 200g chicken breast (meal 3), 226g 0%F Greek yogurt + 25g whey isolate (meal 4). I had omega 3-6-9 pills, vitamin/mineral pills, electrolyte powder, caffeine powder (and green tea), etc., with perhaps some greens (170g whole spinach or 10g greens powder) for fiber too. It worked well, but you will have to embrace the process. This must be paired with resistance training for the muscle sparing effect. Addendum: the exit out of this diet and transitioning/"reversal" to a sustainable diet is absolutely critical and prone to error by most users.

Really appreciate the information. I have found myself restricting calories as I am getting older and your explanation on the body conserving energy definitely makes sense. I have recently increased calories along with more steady slow state cardio and the clothes are definitely fitting different. I am at a plateau of sorts dealing with the physiological change of losing fat while building muscle. This was a great video!

I did fasting for a month.. a few day off then a couple on. The last week before a weight loss weigh in I did a 5 & 1/2 day fast with the last 2.5 days being a dry fast. By the end of that month I had lost a significant amount of weight but I hated the way my body looked. Skinny fat while still being fat look. It took me a couple of months to get my strength back. Listen to Paul. Eat right and exercise and cardio. You want to keep that muscle to look good

Another great video Paul. Feeling satiated is a big part of adherence and consistency, focusing on building muscle is a big part of looking better.

It’s amazing Someone would put so much effort in towalking Lifting and excercise but not put effort into eating . my ruler of thumb is if I can’t maintain what I’m doing easily forever and I’m not gonna do it
