In this beginner friendly tutorial for Unreal Engine 5, I'm going to be showing how to create your own player character from start to finish. We'll cover creating and animating the character, movement and camera controls, animation retargeting, interaction, and more!

Loving your video. I’ve just started out in unreal 5.1 with the aim to make 1 map with 4v4 TDM game mode. It’s tuff fit your tutorials are helping out.

I will donate $250 if you can show me a workflow that accomplishes the following:

Survival game with this mechanic:

Morph targets (blendshapes) to create a weight system. Like a enum or data table to store a fat / calorie value for an item.

Basically you can make the character skinny or overweight based. I can model the blend shapes (morph targets) in blender. Just not sure how how to drive these values with the animation. Do I need to morph the bones?

I would also like to use those same morphs to create an aging system. Can a morph target drive a material change. (Age spots, normal maps for wrinkles) just want to blemd between youthful skin shader and a aged material.

I would consider myself a intermittent user of ue5 and blender.

What do you think? Can morph targets and material changes be used to create a character that ages and can be skinny/fat? What would it mean for clothing and animations. Would bones have to morph?
