100 Sq Ft Micro Apartment Tour in Taipei

I stayed at this micro apartment and boy is it small! But then I was pretty comfortable having everything I need within reach. You sure don't want to cook anything significant here as food options are cheap and plentiful nearby. $2 USD can pay for lunch here if you eat simply.

Why am I interested in this? I have this fantasy of moving into a smaller and smaller place because I dream about living on less. Minimal living, using every item you touch to the fullest and still feeling comfortable. It's not about having less but having the same but everything takes up much less room. In a way, this seems to me like preparing to live in a spaceship where you'll likely have quarters even smaller than this. Or I suppose sailors have to live on a ship with just a bunk bed but maybe I don't want to live THAT minimal.

I personally can’t do it, but more power to people who can survive in this sort of environment; you are better person than me.

Very interesting. Watching this video felt like watching a video of me. I was a nomad for a little over 3 years and pretty much lived like this. I loved it. Then out of nowhere, I met a girl and got married. Now we're discussing kids, and I've had to do a complete 180 on my entire lifestyle design. Went from being insanely minimalist, to now being more and more "normal". Life was so much simpler back then....

Similar to goshiwon in Korea. Usually there's a shared kitchen in those.

Two people in a twin bed! I couldn't get any rest.

Feel like a place like this would be fine for 1 person. But 2 people is a bit too small. This reminds me of the transit airport hotels in Incheon Terminal 2.

We just moved here! Your AirBNB is small even for the center of Taipei, we rented a 2BR apartment (20 ping or around 700 sqft) for around $1100/mo, just a 3 minute walk from an MRT station and even that is on the expensive side. In Seattle it would have rented for $3500...not to mention the cheap food available 24/7 (and it's actually good food, unlike American fast food), actual functioning healthcare (uninsured urgent care visit would be less than $40), and cheap and great internet/cell service, it's safe to say we're planning to be here awhile :). I think you could do great living here for awhile on the gold card as a YouTuber, would certainly fill a niche. Are you planning a meetup?

Definitely check out Nitori and Guangzhou Electronics Plaza for more household gadgets, it's been great for picking up odds and ends.

The foldable hanger is very neat & a great idea. I have never seen them before. The room is not bad overall for the price. It has everything you need as a tourist to stay in. Enjoy your trip in Taipei. I like Taipei - food is fantastic and cheap, people are very friendly.

Are these micro apartments typical in Taiwan just like in Japan to save space?

Where is Snorlax and Dinosaur though? This video just seems wrong without them

I see a perfect spot for them on the 1st and 2nd tier of the rolly desk :)

What's the point of getting rich if you're gonna live like this? You basically said in another comment that you don't care about accommodation, but would you accept a free upgrade to a hotel suite? If you say yes, then you do care, but money is an obstacle. It's not because of poverty. It's frugality.
