Dan, I have started reading your book and find it fascinating. Was delighted to see an early reference to Ramachandran. I am familiar with his work on mirror therapy with amputees. You mention the books of the Hebrew Bible were written by a tiny minority of elites and this left me wondering - what *do* we know about the writers of the books of the Hebrew Bible? I have an image of some old dude sitting in a tent among this wandering tribe of people, that these Scriptures were part of people’s everyday lives, and I have a feeling that mental image is WAY off. Care to elaborate on this?

Love your work. Thank you.

What single book would I want? Well, Dan asked for a collection (the Pentateuch). Maybe I could get Porphyry's Contra Christianos along with the books Porphyry and Plotinus' other teaching assistants wrote against Sethian Gnosticism as a collection. Or maybe a magician's personal library from the third century from somewhere other than Egypt.

We have two Gospels composed around 50--Q and the Signs Source (or prototypes of them, anyway).
