Why YouTube Won't Improve Your Kitesurfing

Time and again I have seen that there is 1 variable which matters more than any other when it comes to how good a kitesurfer you become and how quickly you progress.

It's not how much you know about kiting...
It's not how many kitesurf videos you watch or books you read...
It's not how much time you spend studying kitesurfing...

It's something totally different and totally under your control...and you are controlling it every day whether you pay attention to it or not.

GREAT advice Sam. We do get bogged down on the theory when sometimes we just need to focus on one or 2 key things each session... and of course the most important thing is to smile and when out on the water, forget the technical stuff... deep breath and feel it.

Its wise to get fit to kite, rather than vice versa... my holiday i've just returned from in Sal was a last minute deal and I was totally un prepared physically (I mean totally! Not even a decent walk before I went)... ending up with the first 4 days being pretty broken and lacking energy.

So take Sam's advice and look at yourself. How much do you want to improve and what can you do to make sure you are physically and mentally prepared for the next kite session? The stronger your muscles and joints are, the more confident you'll be to commit to your next goal on the water.

Great advice. I went out in 20-30 knots today despite it being slightly offshore and a sandstorm (Dubai), but I knew I won't get many chances to go out in wind like that so endured regardless :) Super gusty, my eyes were killing me from all the flying dust and salt water spray, but still had fun!

So true...less theory but practice and most important: feel it...and of course: a “couch potato” may have some physical challenges to overcome in addition to improving in kite surfing..😉😄
