When I saw poudre forte listed as an ingredient, I knew this was legit. It’s so cool to finally see a fantasy cookbook that’s actually based on medieval recipes!
Bread was commonly used to thicken sauces, and since sugar was considered a spice, it was often used in savoury dishes, so a lot of medieval food has a really interesting bbq/sweet-and-sour contrast

Let's be honest, we were all waiting for the verdict on the sauce that went for the roast.

Even leaving the theming aside this looks like a high quality cookbook and the level of detail and care for the lore of the franchise just adds the proverbial cheery on top.

I especially like how they even included the "boring" dishes for authenticity.

I think I cooked a chicken with honey from the authors' blog before they turned it into a cookbook. It was delicious! I really want this book, not because I'm a fan of Game of Thrones, but I want to try medieval dishes even if they're a bit edited to suit our modern tastes

I've made a handful of the recipes from this book. The onions in gravy, the cheese and onion pie and the pine nut pastry things from beyond the wall (I forgot their name its been a while) are all really good. I had been making a recipe from this book for every finale episode when season 8 was premiering but I stopped after episode 3 because I didn't have the motivation for obvious reasons anymore.

I made the beef and bacon pie from this many years ago and it was GREAT! If you do a followup, that is highly recommended.

I have this book, I highly recommend the Beef and Bacon Pie. It takes a while to make but is very delicious.

That's a lot of meat for a recipe for cheap stew. The channel Tasting History with Max Miller has at least one episode that features poudre forte. I think he ground up the toast while dry first so it had a finer consistency, but I could be misremembering. Thoroughly enjoyed this video, and the intro.😂

I absolutely adore how you have fun with these videos, it really shows and is super contagious ❤️ I dont even cook but I love your vidoes and especially your intros lol. This one, the elden ring intro and the fallout intros are my favorites so far

The bacon and bean soup from the Wall is the single best tasting meal I’ve ever cooked (and I cook a new meal like 3x/week)

Man i love this series. I'm usually not familiar with most of the franchises the books you review are based on but i still find your videos very entertaining.

That intro is fantastic! Those honey fingers look delicious and are something I definitely want to try making. Would love to see you revisit this cookbook in the future.

Propably one of the most fitting cookbooks themed after a series, considering how much Mr. Martin loves to describe food in his novels.

This was such a fun episode! I'm slightly disappointed you didn't make Arya's meat pie but I suppose it would have been hard to.. ahem, source the ingredients

I think the "toast sauce" is to thin. Bread was often added to thicken sauces. But I'm also sure that it should be as thick as the book says.

That was a great intro, you couldn’t have found a more perfect clip!!

🤣I have never seen GoT, but I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that the scene in the beginning has to be one of the most bizarre threats ever
