Today we are talking about street photography.
Street photography is a big part of my travel. When I arrive to a new place, most of the time I
don't know anybody. I walk the streets. I watch how people look, how they dressed, how they shop, work, eat. Street photography is the best introduction to the local life.
It is not easy to photograph total strangers. Nowadays, especially in developed world, there are
many concerns about privacy, So taking pictures on the street is somewhat complicated.
At the end this video I will share my experience of taking pictures on the street, how to behave,
how to interact with people, how not to get in trouble..

Thank you for a great and concise video. The tecnichal tips were great, although i especially liked the first part - where you talked about the thought process behind the composition. Subscribed, and would love to see more content that combines the 'theoretical' and technical aspect.

My best tips is to own the situation and learn to understand the social context.. for example I am looking for very extravagant characters then I know that they will for the most not care if you take photos even in very close range. At the same time if they start talking to you then you react like it was all meant to be... like the person is one of your friends and you happily talk too

great advice, I want to get more into street photography even though it's more out of my comfort zone (interacting with people, taking photos around people) or maybe that's the reason why

I agree with everything you said... the only difference (which is just personal preference) is that ever since I started doing video as well as photography I started shooting in Shutter priority. with video this is a necessity as generally one shoots 1/30 - 1/60 of a second depending on frame rate. anyways I ended up transferring this thought process over to photography - for walking around doing street shots I set the exposure to say 1/250, set my ISO to auto (limited between 100-400 ISO) and let the camera take care of the aperture to make the correct exposure. as long as you are shooting in daylight every shot turns out perfect. I also shoot with the exposure compensation turned down to -0.3 or -0.7 especially on sunny days just to ensure I keep highlights from being blown out. shadows of course are much easier to recover detail from!

p.s. - I use a Sony RX10... also a smaller format camera that has a great 24-200 Zeiss lens on it that really gives you flexibility for what types of shots you can take!

Hi pal. Great film, great content. Nice to see someone who knows about street photography rather than the posers here on the tube. Much love from Valencia Spain.
