On September 12th, 1962, President Kennedy gave an impassioned speech defending the country's decision to devote resources towards a moon mission. Over 50 years later, that speech is just as motivating as it was the day he delivered it at Rice University.

President Kennedy may have had his flaws like any other human being but he wanted the best for Americans and the world! He fought for peace, justice, civil rights and liberty and was killed in the cause of that effort. He inspired a generation that transformed America, and to this day his words and values have meaning. We lost our innocent on November 22 1963

Great speech, addressed to the US-citizen and to the world population as well.

Back then there was a pride to live in a free world, in a western, capitalist democracy.

I hope one day we will reignite this passion for progress and cooperation of all nations willing to live in the free world. I hope for better politicians.

Greeting from a modest German citizen.

"It's hazards are hostile to us all. It's conquest deserves the best of ALL mankind"
Back in the days when despite a massive confrontation between the worlds two superpowers, it wasn't "AMERICA FIRST" but "mankind first".

Kennedy would be ashamed we chose ignorance over knowledge.

I had the great good fortune to have seen John F. Kennedy in Cologne in 1963 as a seven-year-old boy holding my mother's hand. And I couldn't believe that he fell victim to an assassination attempt a short time later. To this day, he is for me the charismatic president of the United States of America.

In Istanbul, a major road along the coastline of Marmara Sea linking populous districts along the southern coast was named "Kennedy Caddesi" after him. I use it nearly everyday.

“[…] But why, some say, the moon? Why choose this as our goal? And they may well ask why climb the highest mountain? Why, 35 years ago, fly the Atlantic? Why does Rice play Texas? We choose to go to the moon. WE CHOOSE TO GO TO THE MOON in this decade and do the other things, NOT BECAUSE THEY ARE EASY, BUT BECAUSE THEY ARE HARD, BECAUSE THAT GOAL WILL SERVE TO ORGANIZE AND MEASURE THE BEST OF OUR ENERGIES AND SKILLS, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one which we intend to win, and the others, too.” (John Kennedy, On September 12, 1962)
